Nicole Eisenman, Sloppy Bar Room Kiss, 2011

Picture
Barstools

When I am really hungry
Little else exists except
My hunger.

When I am parched
I can be consumed by
My thirst.

When I am lonely
The pain often tears at
My heart.

And when I am with you
Sweet Beloved, my Soul
Weeps with gratitude

And all the angels
Totter precariously
On their barstools

Drunk with pleasure
Gazing lustfully into
Each other's eyes

In full knowledge
That no one needs
To go home alone.

And yet most often
Alone is where

I find myself.
