Seeds

This came to me today
and I thought of you.

Together we have
Planted many seeds.

Some sprout.
Others don't.

Whether each requires
watering with tears
of grief or joy
or both

is the great mystery.

The one truth
that remains is that
if they sprout

at some point
they will flower

Briefly and die

And then ask
to be planted again

and again.
