The Priestess

A heart so deeply wounded
might seek safety in grandeur
yet illusions abound
in the Valley of the Giants.

The fear of belonging
parches even the willing throat
rendering the songbird

speechless and without melody.
And the children of her heart

cry out in confusion

believing that their legacy
is the life giving melody

of the Song of Love
pouring forth
from the tender lips

of the beautiful Priestess
who by passing through the fire
has come to reside so gracefully
in the Garden of Belonging.
